Prozac.
Prozac (fluoxetine) is a prescription selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor intended for the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder, premenstrual dysphoric disorder symptoms, panic attacks, some eating disorders, and depression. Its effects are based on increasing the amounts of serotonin in the brain. You will need to take Prozac for some time to feel the first benefits of the treatment. Some people may need up to 4 weeks to see the changes – so make sure you keep taking Prozac even if you think it is not working for you the way you expect. Make sure you tell your health care provider if you get any of the serious side effects of Prozac that are unlikely but still possible and include the following: hallucinations, irregular heartbeat, difficulty breathing or swallowing, confusion, severe muscle stiffness, swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips etc., rash, joint pain, hives, or fever. There is no need to tell your health care provider about less serious side effects that are not expected to last for too long. The following ones are possible: nervousness, drowsiness, weight loss, changes in sex drive, dry mouth, weakness, loss of appetite, nausea, and sore throat.
